You know how they sell those little rings that you can put around wine glass stems so your guests can tell which wine glass is theirs at parties? Don’t waste your money.
I bought several dozen very basic wine glasses at IKEA a couple years ago. They were on sale for about 50 cents each, and they aren’t flimsy. One wine glass was even dropped on a cement patio from several feet in the air, and it didn’t crack or chip, nothing! Sometimes cheaper is better!
All of my wine glasses look the same, but I found a super inexpensive and easy way for guests to tell their wine glasses apart, and the wine glasses also look super expensive. What’s the secret? Scrapbooking stickers.
The wonderful thing about scrapbooking stickers is that they’re sticky but they easily come off glass. I suggest buying letters of the alphabet. I bought some fancy looking swirly letters in a silver-white color, and I use them to spell out words that are party appropriate. For example, spelling “party” is the most basic. Last year for our New Year’s Eve party, I spelled “Happy New Year.” When you’re spelling something this long and there are several letters repeated, I just use a lower case letter for one letter and an upper case letter for the other letter. You could also buy letters in different colors and mix and match to make the glasses extra festive.
Of course, you don’t have to just spell things on the glasses. There are tons of scrapbooking stickers out there. You’ll have no problem finding something to fit your theme, for example, Christmas trees, ornaments, and wreathes for a holiday party. However, if you want to keep it simple, spelling “party” in fancy letters is always appropriate and elegant. I even had a guest ask me if these glasses were a wedding present. He thought they were engraved! Not bad for 50 cents a glass plus a sticker.
Do be sure to take the stickers off the glasses before you wash them. I often reuse my stickers. Just put them back on the plastic sheet they came on, and reapply before your next party. Or, after you clean your glasses, before you put them away, apply new stickers (or re-apply the old ones), and you’re all set for your next party.
